I've been noticing a trend in the shoe world lately that makes me a little bit excited - it's the return of the practical pump! Somehow over the years we've jumped to thinking that 4-6" heels are "normal" and that everything else looks frumpy, but I've seen a lot of super cute pumps lately that hover around the 3.5" mark, meaning they would be super easy to wear all day long, and equally as easy to walk in (no more awkward stumbling for those who haven't mastered a mega high heel!)
All of the shoes above are below 4" in height and are completely adorable. I like the idea of returning to a classic feminine shape without the cutesy vintage vibe that tends to be associated with a lot of mid-heels.
How do you feel about the mid-heel? Is it something you'll be sporting or will you be sticking to your sky-high platforms?

Totally agree with you - I was never much of a double-platform kind of girl. I think these pointed toe versions are a thousand times more flattering & sophisticated! Love your picks :)

the return of the mid heel is indeed exciting! although I do love towering heels, these heels have a certain sophistication about them. the gold capped ones are gorgeous!

I could not agree more! I remember looking for a 3.5 inch heel just a year ago and they were all horrible. So glad they're bringing this classic back and doing them so well.
ReplyDeleteLove the mid heel, so great for teaching!
ReplyDeleteI'm very excited for the return of the lower heel - my feet will thank me later.

love the 3.1 phillip lim ava pumps! x

Agree! I find them so easy to walk in, and I find that the pointy toes has such a lengthening effect that at the end you don't even need the extra height.
ReplyDeleteI love mid-heels since I'm not a fan of kitten-heels and high heels start to hurt quickly ;) I've got the blue Zara ones and I love them!

I love a shorter heel! I think they tend to make my legs look longer than a skyscraper shoe. The first pair of cap toes are to die for!

Ha ha ha, well, I guess I was out of style for a bit because my ideal height for a pump has always been 3.5"! Nine West always makes a classic pump in that height but in different colours each season. I actually just bought a green pair last week. I do always love a 4" heel, but I can't go any higher than that. I LOVE your picks, especially those two Kate Spade pairs!

I love it (and this is coming from someone who has some pretty ridiculously high shoes). It reminds me of my favorite vintage looks!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy about this as well Kate! I never really bought the crazily high heel because firstly, I am way too clumsy for that so its just not practical, and secondly, I like walking in heels and in crazy high ones its just impossible. I have a pair similar to the first Steve Madden shoes. I got them from Le Chateau (I believe they are on sale now) and I am just smitten with them. They go with everything! xo
