While I did start my Canada Day with a gloriously long sleep-in, the rest of my day was just kind of so-so. The fella and I wandered downtown to take in some of the festivities in the early afternoon, and shortly into our walk I suddenly started saying "ow... ow! ow!" only to haul the top of my dress away from my body and watch a hornet fly out! Gah! I got stung on my chest by a hornet! That hasn't happened since I was maybe 8 years old, and it hurt almost as much as I remember (though this time, no screaming and crying was involved...)
I had three hopes for my Canada Day - a bbq'd hotdog for lunch, a plate of these amazing spiral potatoes they sell every year, and fireworks. I'm not sure what was going on this year, but there was no food. There was a cotton candy stand. And some young kids selling chips and pop, but not a bbq in sight. Sigh. And no potatoes. It rained off & on through the evening, and when we were leaving to head down for the fireworks, we realized it was raining again, and turned back around. I could hear them exploding away from my couch, but unfortunately my windows don't face in the right direction to sneak a peak!
Oh well, I still have a whole long weekend ahead of me to find some fun & enjoy the sun!
